Many fathers are just not comfortable with sentimentality! Therefore “Father's Day Funny Poems” are an excellent method of letting that special man know just how much you love him on Father's Day. Here is a selection of two humorous Fathers Day poems.

Not every poem has to rhyme. Think of most any Haiku…

Not every poem needs to be laid out in semi-equal lines and sentences.

Not every poem needs to have a consistent meter.

Not every poem needs to follow a particular pattern.

Yes, poems should have some sort of theme.

Yes, poems should provide some sort of imagery.

Yes, poems should make you feel something.

Poetry, like music, paintings, sculpture or any work of art, is highly subjective. It is okay to like or dislike any work of art, but to label it as good, bad, right or wrong, strongly suggests that you don't know what you are talking about.

There is also another, less familiar, way of establishing rhythm in English poetry: counting accents rather than both accents and syllables. Some people may perceive accentual poetry as irregular, and confuse it with free verse. However, unlike free verse, accentual poetry has rules. It has a fixed number of accented (stressed) syllables per line, but the count of unstressed syllables may vary. For example, Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem Christabel is accentual poetry: every line has four stressed syllables:

Is the night chilly and dark?
The night is chilly, but not dark.
The thin gray cloud is spread on high

As you can see, there are four stressed syllables in every line, but the count and position of unstressed syllables vary.

Old English (Anglo-Saxon) poetry (e.g., Beowulf) was accentual rather than accentual-syllabic. More modern poets, such as Gerard Manley Hopkins and Thomas Hardy, have also written accentual poetry. The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun, by J.R.R. Tolkien, is accentual poetry written in modern English, but imitating an Old Norse style

Many cultures and moral philosophies have promoted so-called selflessness, such as the ethical doctrine of altruism by Auguste Comte (who coined the term altruism). Perhaps as a result, some other philosophies have promoted so-called selfishness, such as the ethical doctrine of Egoism and Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism.

Putting prescriptive morality aside, I contend that the self-interestedness supported by pro-selfishness philosophers does not necessarily conflict with the kindness supported by pro-selflessness philosophers.

The two philosophical viewpoints appear to directly oppose each other, but that appearance stems from the use of divisively confusing terminology.

Not long ago, while I was having this conversation with an acquaintance, he stated:

“Eastern Philosophy applies too: one must view unattached from without and then bring it in.”

Hard determinism further holds that moral responsibility is incompatible with universal causation. Soft determinism argues that some behavior is free of compulsion so that people can be held morally responsible. Libertarians maintain that human beings do possess freedom of action. Otherwise, libertarians claim, human deliberation is an illusion.

This, they assert, would be absurd. Furthermore, libertarians believe that exact laws of human behavior will always be elusive. Human behavior will therefore remain unpredictable and uncontrollable. In addition to this, a society perfected through application of science to produce specific human behaviors would be morally unacceptable.

In conclusion, so-called “selfishness” and “selflessness” can actually be compatible because the former can mean 'self-interestedness' and the latter can mean 'kindness.' And self-interestedness is compatible with kindness. In fact, I believe it is in most people's self-interest to help others, not only because others may return the favor, but also because we naturally love each other. We empathize and sympathize with each other. We feel good when we observe others feeling good. We feel bad when we observe others feeling bad. We feel enjoyment and satisfaction by helping other people and by making other people feel happy
